Separately, Councilmember Voss recommended a joint meeting with the City of Sebastian to examine their deputy city manager/special projects director role, public information officer and social media coordinator positions that were added in their 2023–24 budget. The council asked staff to follow up and to place the topic on an upcoming recreation commission agenda where volunteer input could be used for a renaming review of Leisure Square (to "Vero Beach Activity Center" or similar) and related sponsorship possibilities.
What happens next: Council asked staff to gather feedback from Sebastian's staff and return to council with options; the recreation commission will be asked to consider a rename and sponsorship ideas for Leisure Square.
