Addison trustees approve 2024 property tax levy and abatements; police pension levy rises

The Village of Addison adopted its proposed 2024 property tax levy and several related bond abatements at meetings on Dec. 2, 2024.
At a public hearing earlier in the evening, Colleen Witt, the village finance director and treasurer, presented a combined levy request of $17,249,465 that includes both the village and the independent library levy. Witt broke the village portion into three parts: a corporate levy of $5,885,594 (about a 0.14% increase over last year), a police pension levy of $4,893,318 (an 11.48% increase), and debt service of $512,323 (a 1.13% increase). Witt said the village portion totals $11,291,235, a 4.81% rise over last year’s village portion when aggregate refunds are excluded.
