Rush County commissioners voted to recommend a 2% across-the-board pay increase for county employees for budget year 2026 and approved a proposed longevity stipend that would pay $50 for each year of service beyond 20 years. The action was described as a recommendation to the county council and was approved by motion and second.
On benefits, the county’s health insurance committee reported that medical rates will remain the same for the renewal period; dental premiums increased slightly. Commissioners moved and approved two Delta Dental contracts (a low plan and a high plan) and authorized signature by county signatory. The meeting record shows the dental approval carried by voice vote.
The board also approved a PHI air-ambulance membership option for out-of-county employees: 22 employees opted in at $55 per membership, for a total county cost of $1,210. Commissioners discussed a possible corporate membership with the Rush County Recreation Center as a wellness benefit and asked staff to take proposals to the health insurance committee. Short-term disability and accident options from alternate carriers were raised and will also go to the committee for review. The county did not provide further financial detail about the wellness membership or the short-term disability cost structures during the meeting.
