Commissioners approve engineering study sponsorship and award Community Crossings paving bid

Rush County Commissioners voted to sponsor and sign an engineering services agreement for an OCCRA-funded utility study for the town of Millroy and approved a Community Crossings contract award for a five-mile paving project.
Steve Rubble of Strand Associates told the commission the OCCR grant will cover roughly 90% of the engineering study and ATRSD will cover the remainder, meaning the county will act as the governmental sponsor with no expected local cost. "We will be working with folks at the highway department with regards to stormwater drainage in the community," Rubble said. Commissioners approved the engineering agreement so the consultant and grant partners can move forward.
On road projects, Speaker 6 reported bids for a Community Crossings paving project to resurface five miles of 900 West. The low bidder was William Barrett; commissioners voted to accept the bid and to sign the required Form 90 documents to proceed with the federally aided project. Speaker 6 noted the state will pay about 75% of the project cost.
The meeting also included routine project updates on bridge repairs and equipment availability in the highway department. Commissioners instructed staff to circulate signed contract paperwork and obtain required signatures from partner agencies.
