William Penn SD sets new dates to resume teacher and ESPA negotiations

District officials said negotiations with the teachers' union paused in January and that talks will resume March 28. "Negotiations with the teachers union were paused in January... But talks will resume on March 28," Tracy said.
Tracy added that the support-staff group (ESPA) now has a negotiation team and the district is coordinating calendars; a date for the first ESPA session will be confirmed by April 1. Andrea Fink, president of the William Penn Education Association, corrected the board on the teachers’ contract expiration date, saying the teachers’ contract runs through Aug. 30, not June.
Board members urged timely work because the teacher contract term and budget cycle create calendar pressure. A board member said, "I think we really need to work with purpose... we've left ourselves three months to get the contract done; it expires June 30," and Ms. Fink corrected the record on the precise contract end date.
No motions or votes were recorded on the negotiations during this meeting; district and union representatives indicated they would resume bargaining on the announced dates and continue communications with staff.
