Other emergency‑permit holders must show enrollment in certification programs and complete required credits (six or nine, depending on the pathway) by set deadlines to be eligible for renewal.
Unidentified Speaker 2 questioned whether employees who hold unrelated master’s degrees could access tuition reimbursement while retraining to become teachers. ‘‘If you have a master's, unless you've been here for 10 years, you're not eligible for tuition reimbursement,’’ Unidentified Speaker 1 responded, noting that this is the contract rule but that the committee could discuss whether the policy is onerous for candidates retraining into teaching.
The presenter said all emergency‑permit employees have been notified in writing of required evidence submission dates to HR and that their status for the 2025–26 school year will be known by June 30, 2025. No formal policy changes were announced at the meeting.
