County counsel (Speaker 9) said the assignment would carry the county's buy-sell agreement to the assignee and would not require restarting the PUC approval process, though it would shift the timeline. "The agreement would stay in place... they would take it with all the assets and liabilities," Speaker 9 said.
Counsel added that although the county's contractual protections will travel with the assignment, the county retains remedies if the buyer defaults. Commissioners approved moving forward with filing the attachments to facilitate PUC processing but noted they would monitor the timeline and any legal implications.
