Staff explained the contract covers five components (design, project management, data collection and analysis, permitting, and construction-phase services); estimated construction cost cited during the discussion was about $5.4 million. The vote passed 7-0.
Charter amendment for petition timing (Ordinance 2025-24): Staff presented an ordinance amending the city charter to allow candidates for mayor and commission to begin collecting petition signatures on March 15 of each election year beginning in 2028. The commission scheduled a second reading and public hearing for Sept. 16, 2025; motion passed 7-0.
Community items: The commission proclaimed the 50th anniversary of the Tutter Road Dance Academy and recognized retiring staff and new officers. The police chief introduced and swore in six new officers; family members participated in pinning ceremonies.
