Newton County votes to disapprove Central Appraisal District's 2026 budget

A motion to disapprove the budget was made and seconded; the court instructed staff to file a formal resolution of disapproval with the appraisal district, which by statute will require the district to rework its 2026 budget if a sufficient voting group of taxing units disapproves. Commissioners also asked staff to provide more detailed salary and benefit breakdowns to inform future deliberations.
