Hood County Commissioners on Sept. 23 authorized the county judge to sign a vendor agreement for the purchase and installation of security cameras and access-control hardware for adult and juvenile probation facilities at a total cost of $105,280.
Probation staff described legacy camera systems — some more than 20 years old — that provide insufficient image quality and said there are no exterior cameras capturing key approaches. “We just need to know that everybody's safety… is there, that the integrity is there, and so I would just ask the court to approve that,” a probation representative said.
The auditor updated payment terms in the contract at the meeting to require half the payment up front and the remainder on completion, and the IT director provided a revised quote from the preferred vendor (MCA). The court approved authorizing the county judge to sign the agreement and directed the purchase to be paid from Fund 55.
What happens next: The county judge will sign the contract with revised payment terms, and the treasurer/auditor will process payment per the contract schedule after vendor performance confirmation.
