Hood County Commissioners Court handled a range of noncontroversial but consequential administrative matters on July 22, approving schedules, contracts and reimbursements across county departments.
The court unanimously approved the 2025–26 Hood County holiday schedule and adopted a calendar view for court date scheduling to comply with forthcoming HB 1522 (effective Sept. 1, 2025). Staff also updated auditor and agenda deadlines for the fall court dates to fit new notice requirements.
Procurement reported 11 responsive proposals for RFP 2025‑11 (IT outsourcing). Commissioners selected four finalists (Goldsmith Solutions; CTSI; 22 Century Technologies, Inc.; and DeafLogix, Inc.) and requested in‑person presentations on Aug. 12, 2025 to allow apples‑to‑apples comparison of services, staffing and pricing.
Other actions approved by unanimous votes included: - Distributing Texas Mutual dividend checks to seven volunteer fire departments (amounts cited by staff) as a reward for low claims; - Reimbursing Tolar VFD and Granbury VFD for eligible costs from the 2022 Big L fire (county portion approx. $48,002.57); - Selecting MetLife as the county’s voluntary dental plan for employees under a two‑year agreement (auditor and benefits staff recommended MetLife over United Concordia because of pricing and a 5% multi‑year rate cap); - Setting the deputy fire marshal starting annual salary at $70,100 effective Aug. 11/12 (after executive session; vote 4‑0); - Approving district clerk participation in the Texas CLASS local government investment pool (staff noted Texas CLASS was paying ~4.4% as of July 15); and - Approving two replat applications (Robinson Creek Estates and Landings East) and the payment of court bills (~$1.65 million), as well as accepting monthly financial reports and bank reconciliations.
The court tabled the CareFlight contract renewal until July 29 to compare providers and clarify coverage overlap with AirEvac; no votes against major items were recorded.
Next steps: Finalists for the IT outsourcing RFP to present on Aug. 12; staff to implement approved agreements and follow up on budgetary and audit deadlines.
