The court approved an additional $120,000 in the sheriff's vehicle maintenance line (Fund 55) to cover major repairs and keep aging patrol vehicles operational. Sheriff Deeds explained that some repair items, including recent transmission replacements, are expensive and that vehicle availability affects investigative capacity.
The court authorized $22,000 from Fund 55 to complete outfitting of emergency vehicles already on order and approved a $23,000 increase to the fire marshal deputy salary budget (from contingency) to mirror recruit pay while the candidate attends academy training. Commissioners also modified a prior vehicle purchase for the county attorney's office, opting to buy a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox instead of a defective 2024 Ford Escape to save roughly $5,000.
Regarding jail capacity, the court approved interlocal agreements with Tillman County, Oklahoma, at $50 per day and Burnet County at $80.80 per day to provide additional inmate housing. County auditors reported invoices totaling $531,341.08 and the court certified payment; commissioners noted that roughly $82,805 of that sum covers housing out‑of‑county inmates.
Procurement staff presented an RFP for paving and drainage at the ACT annex that drew a single bid. Commissioners debated in‑house completion vs. contracting out and voted to table the RFP while staff refines the scope and attempts to solicit additional bids.
Ending: Most budget and procurement items were approved unanimously; the RFP for the ACT annex was tabled for further evaluation and re‑advertising.
