The Tustin City Council unanimously approved a purchase-and-sale agreement with Mariners Church for approximately three acres at Disposition Area 8 in Tustin Legacy and separately voted 5-0 to advance nine proposals to round two of the competitive offering for Planning Area 10 of the Pacific Center East specific plan.
On the Mariners Church sale (item 11), Councilmember Fink said he and other council members had visited the Mariners campus in Irvine and praised its community-focused programming — farmers markets, a thrift shop and events — and said the group would be a good addition to Tustin. After a motion and second, the clerk recorded a unanimous roll call and the motion passed 5-0.
On item 14, Councilmember Fink summarized the ad hoc committee’s review of 32 proposals and said the nine finalists reflect a wide array of potential uses for the corridor south of Edinger near the 55 Freeway. He encouraged public review and noted staff will further narrow the shortlist before returning to the council for final consideration. The motion to proceed was seconded and approved 5-0.
Both votes were routine actions taken under the consent/regular-agenda process; staff said the shortlist for Pacific Center East will be further reduced under staff recommendation before the council takes a final land-use decision.
