Council approves appointments to multiple city committees and one contested vector-control seat

The Placentia City Council on April 1 approved a slate of recommended appointments to city advisory bodies and committees, and then separately voted on a contested nomination for an Orange County vector-control seat.
The mayor read recommendations for multiple openings: Joe Rasick for the Citizens Oversight Committee; Greg LaPorte for the Financial Audit Oversight Committee; Cassie Queen for the Historical Committee; Billy Hutchinson for the Parks, Arts and Recreation Commission; David Smith for the Planning Commission; and additional recommendations for other panels. Council approved the listed nominations by a 5–0 vote.
Council then conducted separate nominations for the Orange County vector-control appointment and received a majority for the nominated candidate after roll-call voting (3 yes, 1 no, 1 not voting). Staff noted vacancies remain on the Senior Advisory Committee and Heritage Committee and encouraged applications.
What’s next: Staff will process appointment paperwork and open applications for remaining vacancies; the council encouraged public application for open seats.
