Rancho Santa Margarita briefed on County's proposed waste infrastructure agreement

The manager told the council the County proposal is detailed and that an Orange County City Managers Association working group will negotiate terms on behalf of member cities. Because negotiations will take time, the manager said cities may be asked to approve a short extension of the current waste disposal agreement, potentially including adjustments to tipping fees while a new long-term agreement is finalized.
No action was requested of the Rancho Santa Margarita City Council tonight; staff called this item informational and said future council decisions will be required when individual cities are presented with formal terms to approve or extend their agreements.
