The Mission Viejo City Council voted unanimously to award a construction contract for the Cracero Park play‑area rehabilitation and to amend the project budget with a water‑conservation grant from the Metropolitan Water District.
Staff recommended awarding the contract to Micron (MyCon) Construction Inc. for an amount not to exceed $916,113, including the base bid and one alternate that adds a concrete walkway with seating to improve park circulation. Staff reported 14 plan sets were sold, 12 contractors attended the mandatory pre‑bid meeting, and four bids were received; Micron was the lowest responsive bidder and has completed similar park projects for the city.
Council Member Kelly publicly thanked staff members Matt Lockwood and Rosa Vasquez for securing the $170,899.99 grant and moved approval of the contract and budget amendment. The motion was seconded and carried in a verbal unanimous vote.
Staff said construction is anticipated to begin in March–April 2025 with completion targeted for late 2025.
