The Mission Viejo City Council voted June 8 to approve a contract with GSL Associates to provide support services related to the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG).
Councilmembers said GSL's work helps local representatives digest and respond to SCAG's extensive technical documents. "GSL does a great job analyzing the SCAG agendas and the underlying documents, which literally run thousands of pages every month," one councilmember said during debate. Councilmembers noted SCAG is a large regional planning body covering six counties and that Mission Viejo's participation matters for regional transportation and land-use decisions.
Council discussion emphasized the practical value of outside technical support for local elected officials and staff. The motion to approve the contract carried unanimously.
