LCAP midyear update: Twin Rivers reports gains in attendance, progress on benchmarks and additional student supports

Travis Burke presented the Local Control and Accountability Plan midyear update, focusing on goals, actions and interim data.
Burke said benchmark results show early improvement in math and English language arts at the secondary level and highlighted progress toward reclassification for eligible English learners. He pointed to programs that support attendance recovery, such as short-term independent study, noting it was "almost 1,000 better than what we were at last year," and described Win Academy and the district's MTSS specialists as contributing to improved chronic absenteeism (current rate reported at 26.81 percent, with a goal to reduce that gap).
The LCAP report also described positions funded to support foster youth, bilingual paraeducator efforts for equity-multiplier sites, and growth in dual-enrollment and college-readiness initiatives. Trustees asked about languages where bilingual paraeducators are hardest to recruit; staff identified Pashto and Dari as challenging to staff and said they would follow up with community partners to assist recruitment.
Burke said the district has collected community input from more than 5,000 participants and will bring a draft LCAP for adoption and a final LCAP to the board at the June meeting.
