Chief Business Officer Susanna Lopez said the procurement package includes preconstruction, site lease, leaseback and construction services agreements and that the selected vendor is West Coast Air. Lopez described the project as enabling the district’s transition to electric buses and said the board would see a guaranteed maximum price for construction at a future meeting. "This is the first step ... to award the lease leaseback contract," Lopez said.
Trustees asked clarifying questions about fleet size and replacements; staff confirmed the project supports 50 buses — 43 replacements and seven additional vehicles — with infrastructure and energy storage sized to meet charging needs. The resolution carried on a roll call showing five yes votes and one absent.
Next steps: district staff will return with a guaranteed maximum price and project schedule for the board to consider in a subsequent meeting; construction and installation timelines will follow after GMP approval.
