Board ratifies CSEA agreement; classified employees and unions urge broader fixes

The Lodi Unified School District board ratified a memorandum of understanding with the California School Employees Association (CSEA) that reorganizes several classified employee classifications. Staff disclosed the agreement’s projected cost to the district is approximately $526,000.
Miss Suarez read the public disclosure of the collective bargaining agreement and its approximate cost. The board then voted to approve OAI‑2 (the MOU) 5‑0 with two members absent.
CSEA president Rodrigo Contreras thanked the board for addressing library media assistant and principal secretary classifications and for associated pay adjustments. Other employee representatives told the board that some employee groups remain unaddressed, citing nutrition services, maintenance and operations, food service workers and principal secretaries at Title I schools as examples needing further action. They also urged additional steps on bargaining items such as one‑time money for health care and improvements to substitute‑pool compensation.
Board members and staff acknowledged the comments and indicated continued bargaining and classification review will proceed. The vote on the MOU was procedural approval; further bargaining on unmet requests was described as ongoing.
