Madison County approves amended opioid MOU with Turning Point; task force oversight to be clarified

The Madison County Board of Supervisors voted to approve an amended memorandum of understanding with Turning Point to support local opioid-related services.
Chair (Speaker 1) said she had worked with Turning Point to address concerns about the contract and that those concerns had been clarified and fixed. She noted the county had already approved $100,000 under prior action and that Turning Point could seek up to $180,000 with additional approvals required from the board.
Board members asked whether the task force that reviewed applications last year (composed, as listed in the meeting, of the sheriff, an EMT director, a public-health representative, a supervisor identified as Diane, and a public member from Montrose Pharmacy) had been given oversight authority under the present contract. The chair said that, as written, the task force’s original role had been to review applications and bring recommendations to the board; giving them oversight authority would require a separate resolution amending the task force’s role. The chair also confirmed she had checked with ICAP and that members would be covered by county insurance.
The board moved and approved the amended MOU by voice vote. The chair said she would sign and forward the document to Turning Point.
