Lincoln County approves temporary and year-round liquor licenses for Prosper Country Warehouse

Lincoln County commissioners unanimously approved a temporary on-sale liquor license for Prosper Country Warehouse & Event Hall for October events and a separate retail on-sale (year-round) liquor license for the same venue.

At a public hearing Sept. 23, County staff read the legal description and parcel number for the property at 46620 278th Street in Lenox. Alexandra McLeod, identified in the record as the applicant, told the board she will apply next year for a full-year license to avoid repeated temporary filings. ‘‘You'll see that we're gonna be applying 1 for next year,’’ McLeod said during her brief remarks.

Commissioner Arons moved to approve the temporary license; the motion was seconded and passed on a roll call that recorded Commissioners Arons, Otten, Schmidt, Putnam and Landy as voting yes. The board then held a separate hearing for a retail on-sale license for the same parcel and again voted unanimously to grant the license.

Commissioner Arons noted the county’s earlier amendment to open sale ordinances enabled year-round licenses: ‘‘…the reason we're able to do this now is because of the change that came about from us, reforming our open sale and ordinances here a month or 2 ago,’’ Arons said, adding that the change allows businesses to ‘‘responsibly take advantage of this.’’

No proponents or opponents registered additional testimony at either hearing. County staff confirmed the license application materials and notices were posted and that no public comments had been received prior to the meeting.

Procedural next steps: staff will complete permitting and issue the licenses per county procedures. The hearings were the final local approvals recorded in the county minutes at the Sept. 23 meeting.
