The Lincoln County Board of County Commissioners on Sept. 11 approved several motions and routine items by unanimous roll calls.
Engineering grant: County staff reported an award from the South Dakota Department of Transportation for preliminary engineering on Structure 42080193 (County Road 117). County staff (Terry) said the award is "about $59,000" and that it would cover roughly 80% of the cost. Commissioners authorized the chair to execute the SD DOT agreement to accept the preliminary engineering grant.
Airport application: The commission authorized the chair to sign an agreement with the state to seek federal FAA grant funding for taxiway construction at Lincoln County Airport (see separate coverage). The authorization approved submission of an application; actual construction depends on an FAA award.
POW/MIA resolution: The board adopted a resolution naming Sept. 19, 2025, as POW/MIA Recognition Day in Lincoln County. Paul Anderson read the resolution, which cites SDCL chapter 7 dash 18 and SDCL 17 dash a dash 2 and records that Lincoln County honors the veterans accounted for from Vietnam (6), the Korean War (33) and World War II (310).
Routine approvals: The commission approved the meeting agenda and the consent agenda earlier in the session. All recorded roll calls in the meeting were recorded as 'Yes' by Commissioner Schmidt, Putnam and Landy; the chair announced that motions carried.
No motions failed and no formal amendments were recorded at this meeting. Several items were first readings or informational and will return for future public input or action.
