One public commenter pressed the board about a discrepancy of $418,591.65 that had existed for roughly a year and a half, saying it “disturbs” taxpayers to see that amount unreconciled and questioning why the item had been placed on routine business. Another speaker cited the county’s reported $83,000,000 cash‑on‑hand and called the unresolved figure “not routine.”

Treasurer Holford said the discrepancy is “about 99%” explained by a misposted investment on a spreadsheet and that staff have made journal entries in 2024 to better account for interest and investment activity. She emphasized the county will not make an adjustment until bank reconciliations are complete and verified.

Next steps: the treasurer’s office and the finance officer will complete bank reconciliations; the county auditor and state auditors are involved in the process.
