Board reports closed‑session approvals, moves several consent items and asks staff to report on budget

At the start of the July 22 meeting the board reported actions taken in closed session: it approved a resignation agreement for employee ID 8181 (assigned as a music teacher) in a 5‑0 vote (motion by Mrs. Anderson, second Mrs. Quintero), and it approved general liability claim number 638681 in the amount of $300,000 (motion by Mrs. Quintero, second Mrs. Buck); the latter vote was recorded as 3 ayes (Buck, Anderson, Quintero), 1 no (Blades) and 1 abstention (Frazier).

During open session trustees handled routine business: they amended and approved the agenda and approved minutes from prior meetings. The board recognized a newly appointed principal at Glen Knoll Elementary and heard routine reports.

On the consent calendar the board approved multiple items, including a ratified contract with OC Safety, Inc. to provide CPR/AED training for early‑learning teachers and a contract with the International Baccalaureate to provide Primary Years Program training at Morris Elementary; trustees pulled some items for further discussion about funding sources and asked staff to provide updated budget figures once year‑end books close.

Trustees also discussed the district calendar and asked staff to return with alternative start‑date options (one week earlier, two weeks earlier or other variations) to better balance instructional days across semesters and improve alignment with Advanced Placement testing and athletics schedules.

The board adjourned the meeting in memory of Gary Meek, a longtime district coach and educator, and closed at 9:02 p.m.
