Students, PTO and education foundation highlight programs and donations at Brea Olinda meeting

Student representatives from Brea Junior High, Brea Olinda High School and Brea Canyon highlighted fall events, club rush results, new courses, and fundraisers. Brea Junior High student reps reported more than $28,000 raised for the year'long program budget and activities tied to suicide-prevention awareness and Hispanic Heritage Month. High school and Canyon representatives detailed leadership activities, new elective offerings and athletic-season updates.
Kimberly Sumner, PTO Council president, summarized unit-level engagement across the district, citing successful membership drives, jog-a-thons and teacher-appreciation gifts (district-wide iPad and Apple Pencil purchases). She invited the public to upcoming events across campuses.
Representatives from the Brea Education Foundation presented a $1,000 donation to the BOAT (Brea Olinda Adult Transitional) program. BOAT co-teachers described the program structure — functional life skills and community job sites — and said 19 students are enrolled this year.
The board thanked presenters and encouraged continued community involvement.
