Counsel also noted the board’s expectation that staff use the full 90‑day review timeline (absent extenuating circumstances) to ensure thorough vetting.
Trustees said the changes aimed to increase transparency after past challenges with petition timing and facilities requests. The board approved the policies by unanimous vote and directed staff to implement the administrative regulation language aligning submission timelines and posting requirements.
Counsel flagged that petitions are typically submitted electronically and that the three‑day requirement is feasible; trustees asked staff to keep them apprised of any petitions submitted to the county board.
