Lisa Green, executive director of Curriculum and Instruction, explained the timeline and legal requirements and recommended board adoption of the resolution that would certify compliance with state law. The district posted the public hearing notice 10 days in advance as required.
One public speaker, a parent, raised a concern about access to materials for students with visual impairments; staff confirmed that when an IEP requires materials such as braille texts, the district procures those materials as needed. Trustee Yamasaki briefly stepped out of the room; staff noted the final vote carried 6-0-1.
Trustee Pelley moved the resolution; Trustee Page seconded. The motion carried with one trustee temporarily absent.
