District leaders praise job fair turnout as a boost for staffing and onboarding

Assistant Superintendent Keith Ferrell and executive director Dr. Jensen told the Ocean View School District Personnel Commission that a recent job fair produced strong community turnout and positive results for recruitment.
"What I saw was just some business done differently and an amazing staff that just supported this district in a way that I've never seen," Keith Ferrell said. "It was heartwarming. It just showed the class of this place." He described long lines and strong community interest in district openings.
Commissioners echoed the praise. Commissioner Bidnick and others called the fair a success and said that final judgment on its value will be whether positions are filled and staff onboarded before the school year. Dr. Jensen credited HR staff and the public information office, naming Julie Saint Cyr and partners such as CSEA for their roles in outreach and on‑site processing.
Dr. Jensen said the next stage is onboarding and preparing new hires to start close to the beginning of the school year, and thanked staff for a grassroots outreach effort that generated the unexpectedly high turnout.
Commissioners were reminded of a welcome‑back kickoff on Aug. 25 at Vista View and adjourned the meeting.
