Fullerton Joint Union High School District presented its annual Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) update, highlighting a 93% graduation rate, expanded arts enrollment and LCAP budget adjustments; the board opened and closed a public hearing with no speakers and will consider adoption at its June 10 meeting.
The Fullerton Joint Union High School District on Tuesday presented its year-two LCAP (Local Control and Accountability Plan) annual update, outlining progress and proposed adjustments tied to four district goals covering college and career readiness, equity and access, school climate and targeted supports for students with high mobility.
Director of Educational Services Sylvia Kaufman and Director Porter led a data-driven review of student outcomes and program spending, telling trustees the district has a 93 percent graduation rate, more than 6,000 students enrolled in visual and performing arts courses, and a rising reclassification rate for English learners. "This plan communicates the district's plan for student success in the areas of outcomes, engagement and conditions of learning," Porter said during the presentation.
The presentation reviewed metrics and budget allocations connected to LCAP actions, including use of learning recovery and federal funds to support reading interventions and an increase in LCFF-funded contributions to TOSA positions. Porter noted adjustments to estimated actuals across multiple actions and highlighted a $3.4 million deferred maintenance placeholder that will reduce to about $2.4 million over the next three years as part of budgeting assumptions.
Trustees discussed the value of the LCAP as a planning and alignment tool across divisions, while cautioning that state reporting requirements have grown in complexity. One trustee urged broader outreach beyond typical advisory groups to capture input from parents who do not regularly engage with DLAC or ELAC.
President Calhoun opened a public hearing to solicit community comments on the LCAP; seeing no members of the public at the podium, the board closed the hearing. No action was required at the meeting. The board is scheduled to consider adoption of the 202526ndash;26 LCAP at its June 10 meeting.
