Superintendent orders third‑party review of pool project; board and community press for transparency on benefits review

Superintendent Dr. Glass told the board Aug. 14 that he is securing an independent third‑party review of the district’s pool replacement project to examine process, contracts and structure and ensure the project is on track to be delivered ‘‘on time and under budget.’’ He said the review is intended to be objective, focused on process and contracting, and will inform the district’s next steps.

On a separate matter, the superintendent confirmed that the board met with external health‑care auditors and district negotiators in closed session and that a fact‑based investigation of possible overspending in the employee health‑benefit system is underway. He said he hopes the concern proves to be a misunderstanding but pledged to take necessary corrective steps if issues are found and to report findings publicly when available. A public commenter, Gary Kasik, urged the district to provide progress updates outside of regular board meetings and cited an initial scope estimate of about $1,400,000 that had been discussed publicly.

Superintendent Glass emphasized that the review and any subsequent actions will be conducted to protect employees’ confidentiality and that the district expects no material impact on student programs. He framed the work as aligning with the district’s duty of oversight and transparency.
