Minnehaha County commissioners approved June 3 an agreement authorizing IMEG Consultants Corp to provide final design, bidding and construction-administration services for a bridge replacement on County Highway 130.
Jacob Morris of the county highway department said the county was awarded a substantial grant earlier this year to replace a structure southwest of Crooks on County Highway 130. He said IMEG's work under the contract will address Department of Transportation comments on final plans and cover bidding and inspection. "This agreement with IMEG is funded 80% by the state of South Dakota," Morris said.
The commission moved and approved authorization for the chair to sign the agreement without additional conditions.
Why it matters: authorizing a consultant agreement is a step toward construction; Morris said the funding mix is primarily state-funded and the county will proceed to bidding and inspection phases next. The commission did not provide a timetable during the discussion.
