The Laguna Beach Unified School District board unanimously approved the contract for the assistant superintendent for business services on Sept. 25, a personnel action trustees said was particularly timely given the preceding financial reviews.
Superintendent Dr. Glass urged the board to approve the contract, saying "there is no greater argument for the need for a permanent CBO than the last 3 hours that we've experienced together." The contract presented lists a start date of Oct. 13. A student board member indicated a yes vote and the board approved the contract without recorded opposition.
Trustees said the new chief business official will play a central role in implementing recommendations from the forensic and benefits reviews and in strengthening internal controls and rate‑setting procedures. Dr. Glass and several trustees signaled they will work with the incoming business officer to identify pockets of one‑time funding and to present mitigation options for this fiscal year.
