Finance Committee approves two‑truck purchase for Parks and Recreation, 5–3 vote

The Assembly Finance Committee on Sept. 4 voted 5–3 to award contract SEF2451 to Kendall Dealership Holdings, LLC for two 1‑ton dump trucks with plows at $105,280 per vehicle, a total of $210,560.

Borough staff said the vehicles will replace Parks and Recreation units from model years 2012 and 2013 and that the older units are past their typical 10‑year useful life. Staff also said the vehicles come with the manufacturer’s warranty but that no extended warranty was purchased. When asked by Ms. Wilson whether the used vehicles would be sold or kept, staff replied the old vehicles would be sent to auction; staff offered to provide maintenance‑cost histories and shop logs on request.

Members raised questions about the fund verification paperwork, which showed larger contingency figures. Staff explained those contingency numbers applied to a broader pool of vehicle purchases funded from a general vehicle‑replacement fund rather than only these two trucks; the committee was told that future award recommendations would include similar fund verification documentation.

Committee members also asked about equipment details: the plows are Fisher brand and the trucks will be used for plowing, hauling snow to dump sites and for sanding/gravel work. Staff said the newly purchased sidewalk cleaner should be interoperable with the dump trucks for shared snow‑removal work.

The chair called the roll for the vote. The clerk announced a final tally of five in favor and three opposed; the chair then declared the contract awarded to Kendall Dealership Holdings, LLC.
