McPherson County commissioners adopted the county's 2026 budget and passed Resolution 25-25 after a final review and discussion of revenues, growth and fund balance policies.
Staff explained that the county's unobligated or unassigned general-fund balance is monitored against a state-law reference to a 40% threshold and that countywide valuation growth for the general fund was about 0.87 percent this cycle. Commissioners noted the tax levy decreased even as valuation changes were handled by the state.
The board voted to adopt the resolution during the meeting after brief discussion; the resolution and budget will guide appropriations for the coming fiscal year.
