Rules committee clears nominations for Planning and Parks boards, asks correction to Libertore bio

The Yonkers rules committee advanced two board appointments to the full council agenda next week: Linda Libertore for the Planning Board and Erwin Vasquez for the Parks, Recreation and Conservation Board. An administrator introduced Libertore's nomination and invited her to speak. Libertore said, "My name is Linda Libertore. I was born and raised in the city. 64 years living here now. I work at St. John's Riverside Hospital 28 years." She told the committee she wants to help preserve the city's character and contribute her perspective to planning decisions.
During questioning, Councilman Moranti asked about her current position and availability; committee members later noted the resolution accompanying her nomination contained a predecessor's wording that incorrectly listed her as head of security at St. John's. The Council President asked that the resolution be amended to correct the bio before the nomination goes on next week's agenda.
Erwin Vasquez introduced himself for a Parks Board nomination, saying, "I've worked for Westchester County for 35 years. I worked my way up to the head of the maintenance in the, department." Councilwoman Diaz welcomed both nominees and praised their local ties. Both appointments were referred to next week's council meeting for formal action.
