County approves bridge contract adjustment and declares museum van surplus

The Minnehaha County Commission on July 15 approved two administrative motions: a balancing change order on a recently completed bridge project and a declaration of a museum vehicle as surplus for online auction.
Jacob Morris of the county highway department said contractor BX Civil and Construction finished a bridge on County Highway 133 north of the Crooks exit and that final quantity reconciliation reduces the original contract amount from roughly $825,000 to about $815,000 — a decline of approximately $10,000. The commission approved the balancing change order by roll-call vote.
Bill Hoskins, director of the Sioux Land Heritage Museum, asked the commission to declare a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country van (asset #0687) surplus. Hoskins said the van has more than 150,000 miles, visible rust and ongoing maintenance problems (air conditioning no longer works) and that proceeds from a sale would likely go to the general fund. Commissioners asked whether other county offices had been offered the vehicle; Hoskins said no. The commission approved declaring the van surplus for disposal by online auction.
