County Sets Public Hearing to Consider Partial Vacation of Cherry Point Ranchettes Phase 4

Chambers County planning staff asked the court to set a public hearing on a request from West Chambers County Development Co. to vacate its portion of Phase 4, Section 2, of the Cherry Point Ranchettes plat. Staff explained the vacation would allow the Saint Augustine subdivision to connect through the area; the city reported no objection but staff noted the Sigelmans own the other half of the phase and recommended contacting them and involving legal staff before final action.
Planning staff said portions of the plat were created in the 1980s and many lots and roads have not been developed or maintained. The court set a public hearing for Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. to gather public input and to allow staff to collect additional documentation, including updated CAD maps and property-owner outreach.
No final decision to vacate the plat was made at the meeting; the hearing will provide opportunity for the Sigelmans, the developer and the city to present information and for the court to consider legal and planning implications.
