He noted five collisions involved bicycles and that preliminary follow‑up indicates e‑bikes were implicated in several recent bicycle incidents; staff are still compiling exact classifications.
Commissioners asked for more granular collision data. Captain Burke agreed to share snips from the department’s heat maps with the city engineer so commissioners and staff can examine recurring 'hot‑spot' locations used by motor deputies for enforcement. The captain emphasized that speed and moving violations are the most frequent contributing factors to collisions and asked for continued commission support for targeted enforcement.
No formal actions were taken on the Sheriff’s report; the captain’s materials and heat‑map snips will be shared with public works staff and included in future agenda packets where relevant.
