Council Member Debbie Baker proposed holding the event on the Saturday before Veterans Day (Nov. 8), suggesting a lunchtime gathering with a taco truck and small tokens—she referenced “challenge coins” as an example. Baker said reserving the pavilion would be appropriate but asked about weather contingencies; council members agreed to reserve an indoor backup space if needed. Baker said outreach could include the city mosaic, lighted boards, social media and mailers.
Council members discussed RSVP limits and food-budget guidance. One council member suggested capping food spending at $3,500 and indicated willingness to contribute personally if costs exceeded that cap. Staff said they will return in August with refined options and will coordinate with the appropriate advisory committee for scheduling.
