City Engineer Dave Grantham said the city expects roughly $3.7 million in SB1 (gas tax) funding next year and recommended an arterial/local split that funds a north side overlay ($2.5M) and a west side overlay ($1.2M). Grantham explained staff prioritized areas where recent water main work has completed subgrade investigations and where a two‑inch grind and overlay would be economical.
Council members discussed coordination with water main projects and with OCTA for potential funding on corridor projects such as Acacia Avenue, and asked staff to improve notification to residents about sequencing of utility repairs and paving. Grantham said Commonwealth work and other projects will affect adjacent streets and that some high‑need local streets require reconstruction rather than overlays.
The council adopted the SB1 project list by roll call vote.
Next steps: Staff will finalize project designs, coordinate with water and utility schedules, pursue grant opportunities and begin outreach to affected neighborhoods before construction.
