A conditional use permit (CUP) to construct a personal-use storage building in the Lakeside Commercial district was approved Aug. 5 with conditions requiring compliance with Article 27 of the county's zoning ordinance.
Planning staff explained that some lots in the overlay district are grandfathered from newer corridor rules, and commissioners debated whether the applicant's lot and building pre-dated the overlay or should comply with Article 27's landscaping and facade requirements. The applicant said the proposed building would be placed toward the rear of the lot (about 250 feet back from the highway) and that landscaping would be possible at the front of the property if a future storefront is built.
Commissioners said they would include conditions mirroring Article 27 standards (landscaping, setbacks and facade considerations) and approved the CUP with those conditions. They noted building-permit review will check compliance at the time of construction.
