Subcommittee recommends council consider additional support for Cypress Community Festival

Council members reported that an ad hoc subcommittee working with city staff and the Cypress Community Festival Association has improved communication and clarified roles in planning the annual festival. Council Member Pete said insurance was the largest expense for the association and the subcommittee will recommend augmenting the nonprofit grant request and waiving storage fees for festival equipment.
The council noted the festival is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with free admission and activities including a chili and salsa contest, live music and a car show. The subcommittee said it will agendize the grant augmentation for a future council meeting and continue to work on schedule and budget discipline with the association.
