The City Council approved a contract with Leitner Roofing Company to replace the roof on Building B at the City Yard (6550 Aragon Circle). Assistant engineer Hyacinth Lee reported nine bids were received and, after correction of clerical errors, Leitner Roofing was determined the lowest responsible bidder at $493,775.
The project includes a reinforced liquid-applied roof system, flashing and membrane repairs, new roof hatches and safety devices. Staff said recent inspections showed increasing deterioration and water intrusion and recommended awarding the contract and a budget appropriation from the Undesignated Water Fund for an additional $48,650 to fully fund the project beyond the original $500,000 budget allocation.
Council asked about construction timing; staff said work is expected to begin in September 2025 and complete in October 2025. The council approved the contract and appropriation unanimously.
