Brea council announces unanimous appointment of Kristen Griffith as city manager

The Brea City Council announced on Feb. 18 that, following closed session, it unanimously voted to appoint Kristen Griffith as the city’s next city manager.
City Attorney Terrence Boga made the announcement in open session, saying the council had “unanimously voted to appoint Kristen Griffith as your next city manager.” Griffith then thanked the community, city employees and the council and said she was “deeply honored” to take the position.
The announcement followed a series of community recognitions earlier in the meeting, including commendations for volunteers and local businesses that supported the Brea Senior Center’s 2024 holiday celebration. During the meeting the council also approved the consent calendar and the city successor agency calendar; both motions passed by voice vote, 5–0.
The council did not discuss the appointment’s terms in open session; the city attorney characterized the vote as having occurred in closed session and only announced the result in public.
The council adjourned at the end of the meeting.
