Staff explained SRO coverage for Buena Park Junior High School and Buena Park High School typically runs 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., a nine‑hour day paid by the district, with officers working an offset schedule that provides five‑day coverage. "Generally speaking, yes," staff said when asked whether officers arrive at 7 a.m. and depart at 4 p.m., with occasional deviations.
Council members emphasized public‑safety benefits on campus and asked staff to confirm enforcement capacity and opportunity for coordination with school administrators. No members of the public spoke on the items. The consent calendar (items 4a–4i) passed unanimously, including the SRO agreements.
The agreements were presented as routine consent items; staff said they will continue to coordinate operations with district partners and clarified that the cost and coverage details are set by the respective districts under current contract language. Council did not direct changes to the SRO program at the meeting.
