Hanno, Japan delegation recognized as Brea marks decades of sister-city exchanges

The Brea City Council on Jan. 21 welcomed a goodwill delegation from Hanno, Japan and presented certificates to visiting students.
City representatives and the Brea Sister City Association highlighted a 44-year relationship with Hanno. John Michael Bettino, the delegation coordinator, introduced the principal and delegation leader, Megumi Ashikawa, who said the visit contributes to the development of U.S.–Japan relations and expressed gratitude for the hospitality.
City leaders thanked host families and noted the educational and cultural value of the exchange. Mayor Blair Stewart read a formal welcome proclamation that records the sister-city relationship dating to Sept. 16, 1980.
