Aliso Viejo proclaims Red Cross Month; county representative highlights nitrous oxide ban and upcoming events

Mayor Pro Tem Max Duncan presented a proclamation recognizing Red Cross Month and thanked the American Red Cross for its local work. Becky, identified in the meeting as the Orange County Red Cross executive director, said the Red Cross workforce in the county is roughly 90% volunteer and thanked Aliso Viejo for hosting blood drives; she said city collection efforts yielded about 375 units of lifesaving blood last year for local hospitals.
Earlier in the public comment period, Morgan Goldstein, district representative for Orange County Board Vice Chair Katrina Foley, updated the Council on county actions. Goldstein said a county ordinance banning recreational sale of nitrous oxide took effect Feb. 25 to close a loophole allowing sales when buyers do not affirm recreational intent. Goldstein also said the Board removed the Orange County treasurer‑tax collector’s investment authority after audits and complaints, and invited residents to a March 8 women veterans mental health symposium at Orange Coast College and a March 29 women educators awards brunch in Irvine.
