Council approves consent items, directs staff on traffic calming and Flock camera presentation

At its meeting, the Aliso Viejo City Council approved a three-item consent calendar and recorded several procedural directions for staff and council priorities.

Traffic calming: Councilmember Tim asked staff to re-evaluate the hummingbird traffic-calming (left-hand turn lane off Aliso Creek). Council agreed to place the item on a future agenda for further discussion and directed staff to bring back prior analyses.
Flock cameras: Mayor Pro Tem Duncan requested a full presentation on Flock license-plate reader (LPR) cameras, including how they work, benefits, costs and timelines. A public-safety representative described the system as a fixed LPR that captures photos of license plates to support investigations and noted initial equipment and ongoing maintenance costs would apply. Council directed staff to return with a full presentation and roll-call direction was recorded.
Next steps: staff will place the traffic-calming item and the Flock camera presentation on a future agenda and produce the requested materials.
