Council recognizes youth softball teams and spotlights Urbane Cafe as business of the month

The City Council opened its meeting with ceremonial recognitions for local youth sports and a business spotlight. Coaches and players from three Eliseo Sofiejo softball teams — the 12U Destroyers, 10U Ravens and 8U Warriors — were invited to the podium; coaches briefly described season highlights and accepted plaques and certificates on the teams’ behalf.
Coach remarks included a recounting of season progress and tournament results. One coach summarized the team’s record and milestones: “We had an 82 and 16 record… you placed third at nationals,” he said.
The council also presented Urbane Cafe as the Business of the Month. Jessica Anderson, general manager, said the cafe prepares sandwiches, salads and bowls from scratch and invited residents to stop by. Council members and families posed for photos with the teams and the business honoree.
What happens next: the recognitions were ceremonial; no formal council action was required.
